Pete Burroughs

January 4, 1958 — September 30, 2024

Crawford

Aubrey Carlton Burroughs, known to everyone as Pete, went to be with his Lord on Monday, September 30, 2024 at his home in Crawford, Georgia. Pete, a native of Colbert, was born on January 4, 1958 in Athens, Georgia to the late Jack and Betty L. Echols Burroughs. Pete was a 1976 graduate of Madison County High School where he excelled in driving his 1970 Mach I Mustang. He attended Athens Tech before he began his career at Certainteed Corp. where he worked until retirement. He always told people,“I grew up in the first house outside the city limits of Colbert. I was a country boy by two hundred feet.” Pete was a mechanic, amazingly talented master welder, electrician, craftsman, outdoorsman, avid hunter, and traveler. He was a God-fearing man who loved being outside whether he was on his tractor, in the woods, out in his shop, or traveling around the country in pursuit of his next hunting trophy.

Pete leaves behind the love of his life and “the best thing that ever happened to him,” Bridget I. Paul. He is also survived by three beautiful and intelligent grandchildren who affectionately refer to him as PaPete; Evie Makenna, Emerie Noel, Abram Christopher Burroughs, of whom he was very proud and loved immensely. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his wife and friends. They take great comfort in knowing he is now rejoicing with his Lord. Pete is preceded in death by his parents and survived by a beloved nephew, Donnie Burroughs and his most precious niece, Presley Burroughs Shaw (Logan).

God blessed Pete with true friends. These faithful friends were always available and dedicated to any activities that may arise. These activities include but are not limited to: sunrise breakfasts with Matt Clark at Gina Belles, constant and everyday endless projects with Mike Crawford, or planning his next big adventure out west with his favorite niece Presley.

Honorary pallbearers are Matt Clark, Mike Crawford, Ricky Haley, Greg Haynes, Darryl Howard, and Logan Shaw.

To honor Pete’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. A gathering will be held later.

Lord and Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements.
