Arthur Donald Melson, 84, husband of 58 years to Jane Graham Melson, died Monday, February 10, 2014.
A native of Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur Melson and Margaret Chapin Melson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, James Arthur Melson. After serving in the US Navy and US Army, Mr. Melson worked in the restaurant industry. He retired from the University of Georgia Food Services. He was an elder of Crossroads Community Church and served with Gideons International.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; children: Charles David (Kathy) Melson of Loveland, CO, Carol Melson Wallace of Athens, Judy (Gary) Hammon of Woodstock; brothers: Roger (Nancy) Melson, Bill (Susan)Melson; sister: Doris (Bill) Moody; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2PM at Crossroads Community Church with Rev. Morris Sapp and Rev. Chris Bailey officiating. The family will have a burial service at 1PM at Tuckston United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday, February 14, 2014 at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Gideons International or Crossroads Community Church.
