Survived by her husband of 69 years, Warren Phillips; three children, Dr. Tim (Kathy) Phillips, Amy (Michael) Warber and Nancy Leskee; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at Lord and Stephens, WEST. A memorial service will be Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Excelsior United Methodist Church, 881 Third Ave., Excelsior, MN 55331. The family asks that memorial gift in lieu of flowers be made to Athens First United Methodist Church, 327 North Lumpkin St., Athens, GA 30601.

Arlene was born in Minneapolis on October 31, 1925 and spent her childhood in Wayzata and Excelsior. She and Warren spent six years in Indonesia leading to her becoming a world traveler by default (not always fond of traveling and sightseeing). Arlene was a member of Excelsior United Methodist church where she volunteered with the semi-annual rummage sale, teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school and participating with the women's group. She was a lifetime member of Girl Scouts and assisted with her daughters troops. Arlene never shied away from work, handling the bookkeeping for her father's and uncle's business, helping her son grow cucumbers for a pickle company, rolling soap balls, counting coupons at a rebate center and most importantly, backing up Warren in his many woodworking creations. She will be most remembered by others for her talent in creating window coverings, drapes and slip covers. She will be most remembered by her family for always putting them first, a bit of teasing when things got too quiet, always leaving the door open for others to join in holidays and being a wonderful confidant and friend. Someone we will all cherish.
