Annie Myrtle Hilliard, a lifelong resident of the Colbert Community and a member of the Colbert Baptist Church, has passed away at the age of 96.
She was born Annie Myrtle Adams in Comer, Ga on May 14, 1922, the third of six children of Gordon Frambo Adams and Cora Ethel Epps Adams. She was predeceased by her five siblings Grover Adams, Lee Adams, Clyde Adams, Geneva Adams Couch and Camilla Adams.
Myrtle was married to Obbie Byron (O.B) Hilliard for over 76 years until his death in December, 1998. Myrtle and Obbie had three children. William Byron, died at birth. Their son Charles Davey (Dave) Hilliard and his wife Sharon Smith Hilliard reside in Winterville. Their daughter Elaine Hilliard Manley and her husband Stewart reside in Acworth.
She has four grandchildren: Shannon Elizabeth Manley, Byron Kevin Manley, Adam Jason Hilliard and Stacey Nicole Hilliard. She has three great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Harper Manley, William Cole Manley and Caroline Ellis Grace Manley.
The family wishes to acknowledge the caregivers at Quiet Oaks Nursing Home in Crawford for the love and compassion they have shown Myrtle during her stay at that facility.
The family will receive friends at the Colbert Baptist Church on Monday, November 26 beginning at 1pm. Services will follow at 2pm with Pastor Brad Wilson officiating. Immediately following the funeral services, interment will be at the Colbert Cemetery where Myrtle will rest beside O.B.
