Annette D. Wilkes, 78, of Watkinsville passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013.
Born March 24, 1935 in Watkinsville, she was a lifelong resident of Oconee County and was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Wilkes and her eldest son, Richard A. Wilkes. She was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother with a strong faith in the Lord. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church and also attended Cornerstone Christian Center.
She is survived by 5 children: Debbie Wilkes Fielding (George) of Nicholson, Jennifer Lewis (the late Jack Lewis) of Melrose, MT, Ronnie Wilkes (Gina) of Watkinsville, Sheila Wilkes Thomas (John) of Madison, and Stacey Wilkes Pritchett (Gary) of Watkinsville, 16 grandchildren: Dave, Krista, Ashley, Luke, Chris, Whitney, Emily, Victoria, Caroline, Josh, Dylan, Mason, Gracie, Jacob, Claire and Emily and four great grandchildren: M-Jae, Seth, Noah and Ella Brooke.
Annette was a homemaker for many years raising her children and later worked with St. Mary's Health Care Facility until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, flower gardening, reading, gospel singings and traveling. Annette loved traveling to the beach with her children. She recently enjoyed an extended trip out West, visiting Arizona, Nevada, California and Montana to visit family.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Lord and Stephens, West. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday at Antioch Christian Church with Rev. Gary Pritchett officiating.
Lord and Stephens, West is in charge of arrangements.
