Athens - Anne Teresa Walsh, formerly of Coral Springs, Florida, most recently of Bogart, Georgia, died July 4, 2007. Mrs. Walsh was seventh of nine children of Nora Wolfe and James H. Roche of Brewster, New York. She was born in Brewster on December 15, 1915. Orphaned by the age of twelve, she moved to Washington DC in early 1928 to live with her eldest sister. She was on her own at age 18. During the Depression she worked in retail and eventually for the Department of the Interior. She graduated from George Washington University in Washington, DC. She married Joseph P. Walsh on July 23, 1938 in Lenox Dale, Massachusetts. She and her husband then resided in Washington, DC. Later, Mrs. Walsh worked for Christian Children's Fund, an international adoption agency. Mrs. Walsh had a passion for world affairs, the US Constitution, and workings of politics at all levels of government. She was a true Democrat, but first and foremost an American.
Survivors include her two sons, Paul J. Walsh and wife Luanne of Ocala, Florida, and Joseph P. Walsh, Jr. and wife Jane of Athens; grandchildren, Eamon Patrick Walsh of Washington, DC, Amelda Marie Walsh of Boston, MA, Kevin Joseph Walsh of Washington, DC, and Kathleen Jane Walsh of Athens.
A funeral mass was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Athens followed by interment in Athens Memory Gardens.
