Anna Jane (Hudson) Holshouser, age 82, passed away peacefully at home in Lexington, Georgia, on July 3, 2021.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Gene Holshouser, her brother Carl Hudson and his wife Joyce, her sons William L. Mauldin, J. Scot Mauldin, and Martin E. Mauldin (Susannah), and her stepsons Scott Holshouser (Eileen) and Glenn Holshouser, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Hudson and Emma Ruth Farmer, and her stepdaughter, Joy Easton.
Anna was born on January 2, 1939 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She grew up in the Sequatchie Valley in Whitwell, Tennessee. She earned teaching degrees at Bethel College, Memphis State University, and the University of Georgia. She was a passionate teacher who taught students throughout her career not only to read but to succeed in life. She retired from Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, Georgia, in 1992.
Anna was an accomplished artist and especially loved painting on china. She and Gene traveled extensively, sharing unforgettable adventures. She was an exceptional cook who loved to plan parties for her family and friends. She was energetic, enthusiastic, and vivacious, and considered every stranger a friend she had not yet met.
A private memorial service for family only will be held Saturday, August 28, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Athens, Georgia at 2:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCkRp1t3MnecoYXnds4X03A
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission Programs at Covenant Presbyterian in her name.
