Ann Breedlove Powers, aged 68, passed peacefully at her home in Watkinsville surrounded by family after a five-year battle with cancer. Ann was an artist, teacher, gardener, and loving wife and mother. Ann was born May 4, 1947, to William Henry Breedlove and Dorothy Jackson Breedlove of Watkinsville. She is survived by her husband Allen Powers, her son, William Allen Powers, both of Watkinsville, her daughter and son-in-law, Frances Claire Pastor and Rodolfo Pastor of Mexico City, Mexico, and her sister and brother-in-law, Claire Breedlove Milton and Edward V. Milton of Arlington, Virginia.
Ann was an accomplished watercolor artist, whose paintings of southern architecture, most notably, southern porches, can be found at the Oconee State Bank and Eagle Tavern. Ann taught art in the Oconee County School System for 12 years, teaching children K-5 at the Oconee Intermediate School and later Colham Ferry Elementary. Ann served as a member of the Oconee State Bank Board of Directors before retiring after 23 years of service in 2014. In 2011, Ann bought a Piedmontese Bull named Alrigo and together with her son, William, and other members of the family, founded the Pastures of Rose Creek, LLC, a family farm specializing in local, grass-fed beef.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 13, 2015 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel. A private family memorial service will be held.
