Ann “Peggy” McCannon Braden, 87, died March 10, 2022.
A native and longtime resident of Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Millard F. and Annie McCannon and was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, William Steve “Bill” Braden and her brother, Edd Milton McCannon. She was a homemaker most of her life and a member of Burt’s United Methodist Church.
For several years, Peggy and Bill lived in Decatur where she worked in the Dekalb County Tax Office. When they returned in 1965, she worked in the Oglethorpe County Courthouse and later at Granny’s Kitchen, where she made many dear friends. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and was known for growing her roses.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews including Scott (Brigitte) McCannon and great nephews, Joshua McCannon and Caleb McCannon. Peggy and Bill also fostered a child, Rhonda Braden, whom they dearly loved. Peggy is also survived by numerous cousins of Oglethorpe County and Atlanta.
Graveside services will be Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Burt’s United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00pm at the cemetery.
