Watkinsville - Anita Hammond Reed, 91, of Watkinsville, died Wednesday October 14, 2009.
Mrs. Reed was born December 6, 1917, to the late George Bee and Julia Frances Carter Hammond. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia in 1941. She retired from teaching in 1975. She taught the fourth grade at Hoosic Valley School in Schaghticoke, N.Y. She was a member of the Watkinsville First United Methodist Church. Anita will be remembered as an avid gardener who grew prize winning Iris flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dalton Smith Reed.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Deb Reed of Clark, Colo.; brother, Lamar Hammond of Portland, Ore.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Hammond of Statham; grandchildren Cody, Dalton and Dustin Reed; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth LaRocca-Pitts officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Tuesday October 20, 2009, at the church.
