Athens - Angie Compton Duncan died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 10, 2008.
She was a gentle spirit born to the late Harvey and Sarah Compton on May 10, 1924 in Madison County, Ga. Angie, throughout her life, was a lady filled with love, compassion and kindness for all. She touched many lives with her kindness, her great hugs and her ability to accept and help people without hesitation or judgment. She was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church, Stephens, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Jesse E. Duncan. She was the last sibling of a large family of brothers and sisters. Her sisters were the late Irene Brown, Maebelle Amerson and Lee Freund. Her brothers were the late Hoke, Theodore, Ed, Howard, Dorsey, Grady and Jim Compton.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Ferguson, Faye Keech (Carl) of Athens and Randall Duncan (Ruby) of Hodges, S.C. Grandchildren surviving her are Angie Jackson (Jim) of Zebulon, Sha Forbes (Steve) of S.C., Stephen Duncan (Joy) of Chamblee, Laurie Boyle (John) of Sugar Hill and Gil Ketron (Katrina) of Greenwood, S.C. She is survived by nine great-grandchildren, Maggie and Matthew Jackson, Mackenzie and Jack Boyle, Kelsie and Sean Forbes, Tessa Thompson, Landon and Ian Montgomery.
Additionally, she is survived by special sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Services will be held at Lord and Stephens East Chapel on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 3 p.m. with Reverend Bill Hayes officiating. Interment will be at Collier Baptist Church Cemetery in Oglethorpe County.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, East, on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 6 - 8 p.m..
