Andrew McKinzey Johnson

Andrew McKinzey Johnson, 45, died Saturday, Dec. 7, at his home in Colbert, Georgia.

Drew, a satellite television system contractor, was born Jan. 6, 1974, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens. He was the previous owner of Architectural Ironworks in Athens.

A loving husband, father, son and brother, Drew is survived by his wife, Jennifer White Johnson, son Jacob Grey Johnson and daughter Chloe Reese Johnson. He was the son of Hank Johnson of Athens and the late Sharon McKinzey Johnson.

Other survivors include his brothers, Ben and his wife Lari and Will Johnson; his step-mother, Becky Rohbeck; father-and mother-in-law, Charles and Linda White; brothers-and sisters-in-law Kelly & Stacy Bartel, Josh & Leah Baumgardner; step-brother and sisters Lee and Ally Roberts and Rachel and Julianna Temple-Roberts; nieces and nephews Ada Johnson, Ashley Simeonov, Savannah Johnson, Annabelle Rose Bartel, Luke Bartel, Gabriel, Raney Lynne and Graham Baumgardner and Louisa, Myers and Graham Temple-Roberts; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Drew was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon McKinzey Johnson, paternal grandparents, Wilson and Tura Johnson, and maternal grandparents, Homer and Sarah McKinzey.

He grew up in Oconee County where he participated in youth sports activities such as swimming, baseball, soccer and basketball. He was a 1992 graduate of Oconee County High School.

His interests included taking trips to the beach and the mountains with his family, cooking on the grill, listening to music, water and snow skiing and socializing with his many family members and friends.

Drew was known for his kind and loving spirit, his infectious laugh and his devotion to all the children in the family.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, at Lord and Stephens West on Jimmy Daniel Road, Bogart, with the Rev. Dr. Lee Mason of Classic City Church, officiating.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
