Lexington - Amory Eugene Smith, 79, died Friday, June 18, 2010 at his residence.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Edwin and Thelma Roberts Smith and brother to the late Wilton Smith and Louise Peppers. Mr. Smith retired after serving our country for 20 years from the US Air Force and also retired from Athens Clarke County as a traffic and engineering foreman after 20 years. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ann Smith, stepson, Jerry Fields of Lexington and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 20, 2010 at 2PM at Lord & Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Jim Olds officiating. Burial will follow at the Thaxton Wynn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
