Athens, GA - Amory R. Barnett, 80, passed away November 23, 2008.
A native of Jackson County, GA, he was a son of the late Boyd and Icie Minish Barnett and was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Barnett. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was owner and operator of Barnett's Welding Shop for over forty years.
Mr. Barnett was the owner of a 1938 Lincoln Zephyr that he and his wife, Allene, dated in. He began restoration of that car in the 1980s and after fifty-four years of ownership, its like a member of the family.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Dover officiating. Interment will be in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Allene T. Barnett; daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and Ed Ivey of Gainesville, GA; brother, Willie Barnett of Commerce, GA.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
