Colbert - America Lavonia Burrell, 99, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2006.
A native of Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Pierce and Leolah Willingham Hammond and the widow of Fred C. Burrell. Mrs. Burrell was preceded in death by her children, Edith Cheeley, Mildred Brown, Katie Agnes Rowe, Annette Burrell and Vonnie Burrell; grandchildren, Ken Cheeley, Jr. and Howard Brown. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include her grandchildren and their spouse; Terri (Brad) Barber, Debbie (Henry) Wood, Vicky (John) Hovis, Connie Brown; great grandchildren, Becki Wagner, Jason Elrod, Matt Wood, Laura Wood, Ben Hovis, Penny Bridgeman, Ken Cheeley, III, Cara Cheeley, Brooks Cheeley, Scott Cheeley, Eric Adcock; great-great grandchildren, Austin Elrod, Breanna Elrod, Blake Elrod, Jacob Cheeley and Matthew Barber; sisters, Larue Weatherford, Esther Wilkes, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 18, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Conine officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park
The family will receive friends Friday, from 6:00 thru 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
