Amanda Crawford

November 25, 1951 — April 20, 2025

Bogart, Georgia

Amanda Ruff Crawford, 73, of Bogart passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Charles William Ruff and Betty Thomason Ruff.

Amanda was born and raised in Elberton, Georgia. She grew up surrounded by strong faith in Jesus Christ and loving extended family. After graduating from Elbert County High School in 1969, she attended Georgia College.

Amanda was a proud Air Force wife for over 20 years. She supported her husband Jay in his military service as they were stationed across several states and in Germany. Amanda worked at Dyess Elementary in Abilene, Texas and the elementary school on Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany.

Upon retirement from the Air Force, Amanda began a 20 year career at the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. She was passionate about supporting the faculty and staff of the Pathology Department until her retirement in 2011.

Amanda was the most loving and faithful wife, mother, and Grammy. She was a pillar of faith and strength as she invested her life in her family, her friends and her church. Amanda’s faith in Jesus Christ guided her through every season of her life. It was through the strength of her faith she endured a fierce battle against Multiple Myeloma and end-stage renal disease. She won her battle as her faith became sight as she arrived in Heaven on Easter Sunday.

She is survived by her children; Allie Melancon (Rusty), Staci Spivey (Kevin), Jonathan Crawford, sisters Claudia McDowell and Mary Yeargin (Randy) along with six grandchildren; Cole, Anna Cate, Emilyn, Jude, Will, and Emerson.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jay Crawford.
