Athens - Allen Costa Thompson, 78, of 4220 Lexington Road, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007.
A native of Clarke County, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Tom and Lizzie Thompson and was preceded in death by one sister, Tommie Parton. He was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church for many years and was a veteran of the United States Army. After 37 years of employment, he retired from Fowler Products as Plant Superintendent.
After retirement, Mr. Thompson enjoyed working in his yard, were he grew his favorite flower, the mandevilla. He was a great neighbor and friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sue Griffith Thompson; a loving daughter, Gina Sue Callaway, of Athens; one loving grandson, Cody Allen Callaway, of Athens.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 20, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Revs. Herb Owen and Wiley Carney will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
