Bogart, GA - Allen H. (Al) Fielding, 67, died April 9, 2011.
A native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Hubert Lorenzo and Sallie Mae Christopher Fielding and was preceded in death by brothers, Ned Fielding and Grady Calvin Fielding.
Mr. Fielding was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He was a member of VFW Post 9147 and American Legion. Mr. Fielding was a longtime deputy with Oconee County Sheriff's Department and retired from the Barrow County Sheriff's Department in 2004. Following retirement, he worked for 4 years with St. Mary's Hospital Security. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gaynell Wilkes Fielding; daughters, Leslie F. Morrow (Jason) of Watkinsville and Misty F. Farmer (Jason) of Bogart; grandchildren, Casey and Peyton Morrow and Lane and Landin Farmer; sisters, Mary Ella Burger of Watkinsville, Margie Murray of Danielsville, Nita Morrison of Crawford and brothers, Mack Fielding of Watkinsville and George Fielding of Nicholson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Antioch Christian Church with Rev. Jeff Wilkes and Mr. John Hembree officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Wilkes, Jesse Christopher, David Anglin, Mac Hayes, Johnny Murray and Woodson Montgomery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Nunnally, Doc Crawford, Roger Smith, Scott Almand and Kenneth Peck.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
