Alice Davis Paul, 91, of Athens passed away on September 4, 2020. Born on December 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Davis and Martha Fincher Davis. Alice was known to her family as being a Bible scholar and was a long time member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Whether it be volunteering or teaching children’s Sunday School, she always found a way to be involved in the church. She loved birds and gardening, seeing nature as a reflection of God’s love. Not only was she a member of the Town and Country Garden Club but also past president and held many officer positions. Alice cherished her family, caring for each member personally and prayed for by name daily. She and her husband, George, had a devoted marriage for 73 years sharing many similar interests with her husband, George, and was his right hand man.
In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her sister, Katrina Ingram; and brother, Jerry Fincher Davis.
Survivors include her husband, George Paul; children, Amy Davis (Lee) and Mark Paul (Susan); grandchildren, Leigh Paul Beavers (Kenneth), Patty Paul Gibby, George Alexander Davis and Lorena Davis Manning (Joseph); great-grandchildren, Sarah Alice B. Carter (Tracy), Mark Beavers, Leanne G. Smith (Mitch) and Zach Gibby; 5 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a vast network of friends who loved and relied on her.
