In 2011, Alex met his wife Rebekah at a Bible study for international students. Within a year of meeting, on January 18, 2012, Alex was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma. The couple married October 27, 2012. They loved each other and labored through over a decade of cancer, including 7 surgeries, 9 chemotherapy/targeted treatments, and countless rounds of radiation.
Alex was supernaturally converted by the gospel of Jesus Christ at age 23. It is not an understatement that the entire course of his life changed from that time on. From missions trips to street evangelism, marriage to parenthood, working for the glory of God and not man: the last 15 years of Alex’s life were directed by the Lord.
Funeral services are on October 30, 2022, Sunday 2:00 PM at Redeemer Presbyterian Church. The family will have a visitation at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Alex is survived by his wife Rebekah Nuñez, son Kendrick Nuñez, daughter Darcy Nuñez, grandmother Juanita Dukes, mother Joyce Wallen, father Victor Nuñez, brother Julian (Samantha) Wallen, and nieces Giada and Gia Isabella Wallen along with dozens of extended family, friends, and former Synovus Bank co-workers.
In lieu of flowers, any donations should be made to Redeemer Presbyterian Church’s Mercy Fund, which Alex helped others steward as a church deacon for 8 years.
