Alcy Shannon "Bud" Giles, 83, died May 11, 2011.
A native of Oconee County, he was a son of the late William Wesley and Della Christopher Giles. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Elizabeth Giles, four brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Giles was a member of the Watkinsville Masonic Lodge #731 for fifty years and retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture. He was an active member of Antioch Christian Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 13, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Antioch Christian Church with Dr. Franklin Shumake officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Ann Butler Giles; son, Dr. Durham Kenimer Giles and wife, Betty Bonner Giles of Davis, CA; two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Giles of Davis, CA and William Durham Giles of Portland, OR; sister, Lois Giles Tolbert of Bishop, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
