Albert Wimpy Ward, 91, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. A Watkinsville native, he was the son of the late Roy Thurman Ward and Eleanor Meaders Ward. An avid reader and writer, Albert self published numerous books about Oconee County's history, people and houses. Examples of his philanthropy are in Heritage Park where he moved and restored a tenant house for historical preservation, and Watkinsville City Cemetery where he was instrumental in the placement of two commemorative monuments and the purchase of additional cemetery land where unmarked graves were located. His personal, professional and community accomplishments are many.
