Athens - Agnes K. Lund, age 92, died peacefully on December 24, 2008. She was the youngest child of Mary G. Murphy and Patrick McManmon of Bay City, Mich. She was predeceased by her husband, civic volunteer and activist, Harry S. Lund, and by her beloved siblings, Joseph (Ruth) McManmon, Grace (Harry) Trahan, Rose (Emery) Kolb and Edward (Florence) McManmon.
Agnes was an elementary school teacher whose career spanned from teaching in a one room country school to ending at John Moore Elementary in Saginaw County. She was an advocate for children and believed that education and family were the cornerstones of life. Agnes was a lifelong Catholic and her faith sustained her through many challenges.
Agnes is survived by her children, John Lund, Anchorage, Alaska and Rosemary (Michael) Padilla, Athens, Ga. and her cherished grandsons, John (Lisa) Padilla, Arlington, Va. and Brian Padilla, Chicago, Ill. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Edward Trahan, Michael Trahan, Maria Trahan, Deanah White, Patricia Cain, Michele Smith, E. Patrick McManmon and Ann McManmon.
The family is grateful for the loving care Agnes received at Winterville Assisted Living, notably for the care of Mattie P. Smith and all the other devoted caregivers. A celebration of her life, memorial service and interment will be at a later date in Saginaw, Mich.
