A.C. Kelley, Jr.

A.C. Kelley, Jr. 89, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Born and raised in the Cumming and Dawsonville area, A.C. was the son of the late A.C. Kelley, Sr. and Kate Bottoms Kelley. He graduated in the class of 1949 from Dawson County High School. A.C. served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Bell South for over thirty-eight years. He was a faithful member of Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens.

Wherever he lived, A.C. loved to be involved in his community: he was a member of the Bell South Telephone Pioneers, the Oconee County Lions Club, the North Georgia Two-Cylinder Club and the Georgia Antique Engine Club. He was a laidback, easy-going guy with a great sense of humor, but above all he was a devoted family man as a loving, supportive, and encouraging father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.

Along with his parents, A.C. was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Buice Kelley, and his brother, Oliver Kelley.

A.C. is survived by his two children: Alan (Sandy) Kelley and Sharon (Tracy) McKeithan; sister Shirley (Carroll) Vaughn; and 3 grandchildren, Shanna Echols-Kelley, Kelley McKeithan, and Kevin McKeithan; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 27, at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA at 3:00 p.m.
