Athens, GA - Albert Felix McElroy, 86, died October 17, 2012. The husband of Edna H. McElroy, they were currently residing at Mulberry Grove Assisted Living Home, Statham, GA.
Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late Albert Benton and Mary Elizabeth Carson McElroy and preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Sparks and Johnnie Anderson. Mr. McElroy was retired from Georgia Power Company as foreman - 1st line supervisor following 40 years of service. He was a member of Georgia Power Ambassadors, a U.S. Navy veteran and longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Rev. Bill Ricketts and Rev. Jerry Price officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Meadows, Christopher McElroy, Kyle McElroy, Paul Lester, Scott Lester and Billy Thomas.
Survivors in addition to his wife include daughter, Kathy M. (Randy) Meadows of Gray, GA; son, Steven H. (Debra) McElroy of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Kevin Meadows, Christopher McElroy, and Kyle McElroy; great grandchildren, Ava Meadows and Evan Meadows and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and will also be at the residence of Paulette Anderson, Watkinsville, GA.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Lord and Stephens, WEST is in charge of arrangements.
