Athens - Mr. A. Earl Jenkins, Jr., 70, died November 21, 2005 at his residence in Athens after a short illness. Mr. Jenkins was born at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, the son of the late Dr. A. Earl Jenkins and Nana Brooks Jenkins. He attended Druid Hills High School and received a degree in Engineering from Auburn University, where he was a member and officer of Sigma Nu fraternity.
He was employed with the Soil & Water Conservation Commission and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Project Manager. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret Louise Palmer Jenkins of Athens, a son Earl Goodwin Jenkins, and a daughter, Margaret Palmer Jenkins, both of Atlanta. He is preceded in death by a son, Edwin Clifton Jenkins. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. W. Knox (Judy) Culpepper, Jr. of Atlanta.
Private services will be held in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
