Louise Spurlin Davis passed away Wednesday, September 1, at 98 years of age.
Louise was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 22, 1922 to Mary Lou and Roger Leonard Spurlin. She grew up in Atlanta and attended Commercial High school. She married Paul Jackson Davis on June 9, 1940. They raised three children, Jane, Jack and Jeff.
Louise lived a long and full life. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was able to travel the world. She lived in Atlanta most of her life but also had a second home in Naples, Florida. She had a strong spirit and sense of adventure. She was a member of Atlanta Country Club and Naples Country Club.
Louise moved to Athens in 2008 and was a resident of Highland Hills. She was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Paul, her brother, R. L. Spurlin, Jr, her son, Jeff and granddaughter Jill Davis.
She is survived by her sister, Ann McDaniel, daughter, Jane and Don Blakely, their children, David ( Shannon) Blakely, Jimmy (Terry) Blakely her son Jack and Joy Davis and their children, Julie Davis (Chuck) Couch, Janet Davis(Charlie) Mann and 8 great great grandchildren.
There will be a family graveside service on Friday, September 3, at Westview Cemetery at 11 am with the Reverend Chuck Hodges officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Athens First United Methodist Church or the St Mary’s Foundation.
