Gordon "Yogi" Kyle Collins

Gordon "Yogi" Kyle Collins, age 67 of Watkinsville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

Born in Athens, Georgia on August 24, 1956, Yogi was the son of the late Thomas Lawrence Collins Jr. and Francis H. Collins. In addition to his parents, Yogi was preceded in death by his sister Margaret (Maggie) Collins and niece Christy. He is survived by his wife Joanna M. Collins; sons Nathan, Joel (Christina), and Jacob Collins, daughter Sarah Kate Stone (Guthrie); grandchildren Ava and Dean Collins, and Guthrie, Scarlett and Dorothy Stone; brother Thomas Lawrence Collins III (Margaret); great nieces Kathryn and Chelsea Collins, and Nicole Bahnsen; and step-great nieces Pam and Andrea Brown.

Yogi was a member of Oconee Baptist Church and a former member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. A proud Athenian, he grew up with a fond love for UGA football and the game of baseball. Yogi was a skilled wallpaper hanger in the Athens area for over five decades. On October 27, 1978, he married Joanna Maddox and loved her dearly for 45 years until his passing. Yogi enjoyed spending time with his family, studying and preserving his genealogy, vacationing in the mountains and searching for shark teeth while walking on the beach with his loving wife.

Visitation will be held at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, Athens on Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 1:00pm until 2:30pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:30pm. Interment will be in the Tuckston United Methodist Church Cemetery.
