Betty Jean Stanley McCallister

Betty McCallister, age 93, of Athens, Georgia passed away on May 28, 2023.

She was born March 19, 1930, in Decatur, Georgia to Viola Spain Stanley and John Lee Stanley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola and John Stanley, husband Frank McCallister, daughter Sarah Horne, 4 brothers Johnny, Louie, Marvin, Larry, and sister Lorene.  She is survived by her sister Sarah Stanley of Athens, daughter Deborah (Rod) Clark of Newnan, Georgia and son Frank (Tonie) McCallister of Fort Myers, Florida, Son-in-law Dan Horne of Bethlehem, Connecticut, 8 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great grandsons.

Betty worked for 22 years in the Records Department at White Wilson Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  She relocated to Athens, Georgia to be closer to family and in 2018 she became a resident at Jackson Oaks Assisted Living in the Memory Care Unit.  She is a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Athens.

A funeral service honoring the life of Betty will be held on June 3, 2023, at Lord & Stephens East Funeral Home 4355 Lexington Road Athens, Georgia.  Visitation from 9:00-10:00, Service 10:00.  Interment will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory 2284 Candler Road Decatur, Georgia.  In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association.
